API terms
Last updated: 3 November 2026
These terms apply to everyone who uses the allqus API (“client”) with an API key, in addition to the terms of use and the acceptable use policy. The technical details are in the API documentation.
1. Access and API keys
- You need an allqus account to create API keys. You are responsible for all requests made with your keys.
- Keep keys secret: use them only on servers you control, never in browser or mobile app code or public repositories. Revoke a key at once in the developer console if it may have been disclosed.
- Keys may not be sold, shared with other companies or used to offer the API itself to third parties under another name.
2. Prices and prepaid balance
- The API is prepaid. You top up a balance in CHF through Stripe; each successful request is charged at the price shown on the developer page and in the console at the time of the request. Prices include no VAT unless shown at checkout.
- The price is reserved when a request starts; requests that fail on our side are refunded to the balance automatically. Requests are refused when the balance is too low.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days’ notice by email. Price changes never reduce an existing balance.
- Unused balance can be refunded on request when you stop using the API, minus payment fees, unless the account was closed for breaking these terms. Balances expire 24 months after the last top-up. Claims about charges must be made within 60 days.
3. Allowed use
- You may use the answers and search results in your own products and services, for your users. Show the sources with answers where possible, and make clear that answers are written by AI.
- Not allowed: anything forbidden by the acceptable use policy; building a competing search or answer engine mainly from our results; bulk downloading to create datasets or train AI models; trying to get around rate limits, prices or security measures.
- We may limit the number of requests per key (rate limits) and adjust them to keep the service stable for everyone.
4. Your data and your users’ data
- Questions sent through the API are processed to answer them and then kept, with the answer and the approximate location of the calling server, in our internal search history for a limited time (90 days by default), for quality, support and abuse prevention. Only our team can see them; they are never shown publicly or to other clients and never used to train AI models. To answer, they are sent to our AI and search provider (see the privacy policy).
- For billing, security and support we keep request metadata (time, endpoint, key, price, status, duration, token counts) for 13 months.
- You are responsible for informing your own users and for having a legal basis if your requests contain personal data. Don’t send sensitive personal data unless it is necessary.
5. Availability and quality
We aim for high availability but don’t guarantee uninterrupted service or a particular response time. Answers are generated automatically from third-party sources and can be incomplete, outdated or wrong; you are responsible for how you use them. We may change the API; we announce breaking changes in the changelog of the documentation at least 30 days in advance where possible.
6. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Teknocare GmbH is liable only for intent and gross negligence. Liability for indirect damage, lost profit and data loss is excluded. In any case our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the API in the 12 months before the event.
7. Suspension and ending
You can stop using the API and revoke your keys at any time. We may block keys or an API account at once in case of misuse, a security risk, a breach of these terms or a legal obligation. Swiss law applies; courts: Schlieren (canton of Zurich).
